2024 Legislative Session

Facade of the Minnesota State Capitol Building in St Paul

The 2024 Legislative session began on February 12. While this is the “short” session focused on bonding and policy, there will be some activity related to early childhood issues.

Child Care Aware of Minnesota helps you stay informed about the latest child care and early education policy news. Each week during the legislative session, our legislative update provides a brief overview of bills that have been introduced, action that has been taken at the committee level or on the floor, and any other pertinent news related to early care and education and school-age care issues. We also produce a bill tracker that shows the introduction and progress of every early childhood education-related bill as it moves through the legislative process.

The decisions made in the Minnesota Legislature have a deep and lasting effect on our entire child care system. By staying informed, everyone who cares about the well-being of young children can make their voices heard by contacting their legislators about important early childhood issues. You can enter your address into this look-up page and find out who represents you and how to reach them. Legislators welcome input from constituents with lived experience; you don’t need to be an expert to express support or concern.

Our website also contains some advocacy resources to help you, including this guide to meeting with your state legislator. Make your voice heard!
